“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:19-20).”
Now that we have been saved, who are we compelling to come? Who are we mentoring? Have we made any disciples? Is anyone closer to Christ as a result of an association with us? We are not saved to sit–to grab a seat, a bag of popcorn and watch the show. Yet, this is exactly what many Christians are doing. Unless we bring others into the fold, our world, our friends will simply go to hell in a hand basket. We must ask God to present us with opportunities to effectively spread the gospel. In addition, we must live so that we can take full advantage of the opportunities. Yes, God has a work for each of us. You may not consider witnessing your primary calling but we must understand that sheep (not the shepherd) beget sheep. Yet, many of us have been saved for many, many years and have yet to even attempt to win anyone to Christ…”he that winneth souls is wise (Prov. 11:30).” We might say, I don’t “do witnessing.” However, I’m more concerned that we allow our lives to “be a witness.”
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8).” We must get busy with kingdom work. Many of us have accepted Christ and are simply sitting by the door waiting for Him to return. But we are to occupy ourselves in the work of the Lord until He comes (Luke 19:13).
