God’s original plan was to commune with man…to have relationship and fellowship with him. We were created in the image of God and for the glory of God, to worship Him and to place Him first. Adam and Eve were all set to have a delightful life…in the Garden of Eden, which has been called the Garden of Delight or Pleasure. At any rate, I can’t even begin to imagine how beautiful, fruitful and well-watered it was. They wouldn’t need to kill themselves working to make ends meet, but rather to enjoy life and care for the garden, to eat from it and enjoy pesticide-free, organic delights.
Enter: the serpent. Lesson: Don’t listen to just anyone or anything. Eve is deceived…although the command was not given to Eve, but to Adam. Lesson: If you’re the spiritual head, step up and assume your role. Remain focused on what God has said, not on what others are saying. Don’t second-guess God. We may think we know better, but He is after all the Omniscient God. Listening to too many voices (secular opinions) can be dangerous. Yes, in the multitude of counsel, there is safety. But we must make sure that the counsel that we take in is in alignment with the Word of God, which is the highest source of wisdom. It’s almost hilarious that when God questioned Adam, he pointed to Eve and Eve to the serpent. Lesson: Don’t pass the buck. When we find that we’ve sinned, we aren’t to justify it by pointing the finger elsewhere. Needless to say, it only went down from there–with punishment issued to both (see Genesis 3).
If we stick with God’s plan for our lives, we are guaranteed to be much better off than if we go on our own. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).” I’ll take His plans over mine any day. Stick to the Original Plan: commune with Him, spend time in His presence, worship Him, place Him first and His love will overwhelm you! Thanks for visiting, following, subscribing. Take care & be blessed.
