Was This the Dream?

I can’t help but wonder… to question, as I look at what’s going on in the world around us and see the daily news… was this the dream?  I’m saddened to think that 45 years have dr kingpassed since Dr. Martin Luther King was murdered; and regrettably  the progress is minimal.  Racism still exists, yes.  Sure, I have friends of many other nationalities; but I’m concerned with more than just “me and my four and no more.”  And so I say it still exists.  Let’s see… what else still exists?  Hatred, check.  Disrespectful behaviors, check.  Violence, check.  Crimes, check.  I could go on.   Black on Brown and Brown on Black violence.  Really?  Everyday the same, the same everyday.  Was this the dream?  Is this what Dr. King had in mind?  Still… we ask, can’t we all just get along?  Will we ever walk hand in hand or consider each of us as having been created equal?  Can’t answer.  But can we just stop killing each other?  Police brutality is up… but then again, so are crimes committed on  police officers.  It’s commonplace to hear of a civilian using his vehicle as a deadly weapon against the police force or firing weapons at officers.  We kill for a cell phone?  Seriously?  Idream don’t think this was the dream.  It is, however, a nightmare.  What would happen if we all began to think differently.  Instead of getting them before they get me, can we commit to seek the good of the next.  Instead of random acts of violence, can we show random acts of kindness?  Can we simply care about our neighbors and be there for each other.  If the church would be the church and begin to show love toward one another, that would be a great beginning.  Let it begin with me.  “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you (John 15:12).”  Thank you for visiting, following, subscribing.  Take care & be blessed.  Please also visit… www.xtreme-fire.com

Wow……. So deeply profound. So true. You made me think of the song, “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.”

  2. Oh… I remember that song. I heard it at a Lutheran Church. Thank you for your encouragement.
