My First Love…

Come on… admit it.  You’ve considered going back to your prior love at some point…  I’ve been thinking about it long and hard…  o__O

“Nevertheless I have [somewhat] against thee, because thou hast left thy first love (Rev. 2:4).”

This Valentine’s Day is as good as any to return to your First Love!  Spiritually speaking, of course, this is an awesome idea.  I’m full of them actually.  Time to re-energize my relationship with my First Love.  I believe quality time is important in any relationship but quantity and quality time with God is time that is amazingly well spent.  In fact, nothing else can compare.  And He will make up for anything lacking as a result of the time spent with Him.  So… I intend to tell Him just how much I truly love Him and that above Him there is no other.  I recognize that He is jealous and so I don’t want to do anything that would betray His trust.  I will assure Him that I will have no other lovers.  “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name [is] Jealous, [is] a jealous God (Exodus 34:14):”

I just have to tell him that it was His loving-kindness that drew me to Him.  “We love him, because he first loved us.  (I John 4:19).”  It was, after all, His love that lifted me… when nothing else could help.  No more wasted time… I’m going back to My First Love!  No one can love me like He does!  Nobody greater, no one more loving, tender, or patient.  He celebrates me!

“…and [as] the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, [so] shall thy God rejoice over thee (Isaiah 62:5).  I’m going back!
