Taking Nothing for Granted

HA!  I remember as a child that I would get so confused with the word “advantage.”  I couldn’t figure out if it was a good thing or a bad thing.  I’d hear people say with excitement, “You’d better take advantage of it.”  I’d also hear people say in a different, more agitated tone, “She’s just taking advantage of me.”  I really didn’t get it… half-way random thought.

Lord, help us to take advantage of every benefit that You willingly provide.  Yet, help us to take nothing for granted–Your provision, Your gift of life and health, Your mercy and grace.  We are grateful for every good and perfect gift.  Thank You for being such a faithful God.  We are overwhelmed by Your goodness and that You, Creator of the Universe, would call us friend.  Draw us closer to You and give us the discipline to seek You early and often.  Help us to seek You for Your presence and not Your presents.   Indeed, everything we need, we find in You.  Still, everything You need is embodied in Yourself.  Needing nothing, with everything residing in You, still You want relationship with man.  You desire fellowship with Your created beings.  Help us to worship You in Spirit and in truth and to be content to linger in your presence and fellowship with You.  Forgive us for being hurried in your presence.  Help us to wait on Your voice, to hear from You, to appreciate every gift and to take nothing for granted.  Thanks for visiting…

  1. One of our greatest desires as believers is the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Well, He always shows up. In fact He dwells with us. But how many times we act like he is not near. We ignore, we grieve Him and take Him for granted. Thanks for the reminder us to “take nothing for granted” – certainly not His presence.

  2. Amen. I’m so grateful that I’m a part of the ‘called out ones.’ Thankful for His presence and manifested power in my life… thankful that I’m saved from the penalty of sin… thankful for my entire ‘benefits package’ … much better than any corporation could offer. Thank you for your input. Blessings.

  3. “benefits package” I love that term! I will give you credit every time I use it. 🙂

  4. HA! Go for it, Conservative! I’m glad you like the term. Blessings! =))

  5. I also like God’s “retirement package” 🙂
