As this year draws to a close, I welcome and anticipate God’s blessings in the New Year! Not only do I anticipate His blessings, however, I look forward to how I might continue to bless Him and bless Him MORE! I thank God for every door He has opened, for the many opportunities that He has allowed for ministry in 2011. I know that God has an awesome plan for my life–as I continue to submit myself to Him and welcome His perfect will to be done in me. I understand that I am not His only love. He loves each of us and has a wonderful plan for our lives. Not only must we submit, but we must exercise the discipline needed to strengthen our relationship with Him. Relationships take work… boy, do they. This means, of course, that we make time for God. We must give Him a time and a place, for worship, communion, prayer, the study of His Word, a time that allows Him to speak to our heart. As we acknowledge Him in all that we do, He will surely direct our paths (Prov. 3:6). When we do this, we will come to know Him better; and not only that… He will cause us to know ourselves better.
We are instructed in Matt. 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” It’s always easier to do what WE want to do; but if we follow His directives, we’ll end up much better off. Sure, we can chase the dollar and claim we have no time for Christian disciplines because we must make a living. But our obedience is what actually says that we love God–not necessarily what our mouth says. If we want a stellar 2012, we must discipline ourselves to let the lesser things die that the greater may live. When we seek God above all else, it speaks volumes about our priorities. Embrace 2012 with a new and greater commitment, consistency and discipline. Thanks for visiting.
