Black Friday… (Produces) Black or Red Sunday?

Folks are getting trampled on to get those Black Friday deals.  Hopefully no one gets killed in the crowd this year… as in years past.  Sorry, I really don’t see the need to put my life on the line to get half off on anything.  I’m all for great deals but not at the expense of my health or life.  Somehow this day and season brings out the worst in many of us.  Robberies go up–an 80+ year old woman was beaten this week in SoCal and robbed of $2400 that she had just withdrawn from a bank… very sad.  But let this caution us to be ever so careful and wise in our monetary transactions always… and never let people see your money.  The savage beast comes out in many and it’s really quite appalling to see just how far people will go to get that deal–one lady used pepper spray today in a Wal-mart (I believe) to clear everyone out so that she could grab the X-box… she did and left, while others (at least 20) ended up needing to be treated for their injuries–equally sad.  Seems like the prices either hold or continue to fall after Black Friday at most places anyway so there’s really no need to rush.  I can understand the excitement of getting up early and being a part of the early group.  But.. really?  Is it worth it?  I don’t think so but to each his own.   At any rate,  let’s not spend so much on Black Friday that Sunday morning (at church) turns into Red Sunday.

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it] (Mal. 3:10)” – OT.

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier [matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these oughtye to have done, and not to leave the other undone (Matt. 23:23)” – NT.

Let’s make it a Black Sunday as well.  While we’re proclaiming how grateful we are for family, friends and, most importantly, a relationship with Christ, let’s show it also in our worship in every way, which includes our giving.  Thanks for visiting.

Take care & be blessed.  Please also visit…
