Sure, we love the LORD. No doubt. We’ve accepted Him as our personal Savior. But have we begun the process of sanctification? Or are there habits and character flaws or personality traits that we simply refuse to let go of… or that we think are cute? We are urged to lay aside the weight and the sin that doth so easily beset us (Heb. 12:1). This may also include some associations that we’ve held dear. After all, what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness (II Cor. 6:14)? Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you (II Cor. 6:17).
If we value our relationship with Christ as we should, then we would choose to let nothing separate us from the love of God (Rom. 8:39). Drop it like it’s hot! For wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: …strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it (Matt 7:13-14).
We can’t afford to wink at sin or turn a blind eye but we must examine ourselves and say as David, Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Ps. 139:23-24). If it takes us further from God, we’d better drop it like it’s hot. Thanks for visiting.
