Keep Your Eye On the Prize!

Sometimes we wonder if we’re actually making progress.  Are we standing still while everyone else is moving?  Or are we actually moving along also?  I’m sure you’ve been there.  You believe you’re moving along but by comparison your pace is not in step with whatever else is moving around you. So… you stop, stand still and look around in order to make that determination.  Maybe you find that everything or everyone is moving, including you.  It may be best to simply measure our progress by the Word, and not by our expectation or the expectation of others.

“But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.  For I was envious at the foolish, [when] I saw the prosperity of the wicked (Ps. 73:2-3).”  If we keep our eyes on God and not on others, we’re sure to keep in step.  And if we allow His timing, we won’t need to concern ourselves with the prosperity of others.

Paul said, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Phil. 3:13-14).”  Keep your eye on the prize, be single-minded and don’t lose heart.  God has not forgotten about you and when you believe all hope may indeed be lost, He steps in and not a moment too soon.  I thank God that He gives us to see it before it actually happens.  Walk  in the Spirit, pray in the Spirit, sing in the Spirit and don’t lose your spirit!
