Just for Me!

The song says, “Jesus Came and Did it Just for Me!”  Ain’t that good news?  And therein lies the gospel.  God loved us so that He sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross for our sins.  He died.  He did it just for me.  Not only did he die–but he got up from that grave!   “And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and [of] the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again (Mark 8:31).”  That’s enough to make me dance and shout right there.  All we need to do is believe this truth and confess it.  He didn’t do it solely for the elite, the rich, the educated; rather he did it for everybody!  Absolutely no discrimination.  The funny thing is that when you believe this truth, confess it and ask Christ to be your Savior AND your Lord, your life begins a transformation process.  So while it is true that this is all we must do, after we do this (believe & confess), after we make Him Lord, He takes control and we become a new creation.  “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:  old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Cor. 5:17).”  This is one deal that can’t be taken away from you–one promise that cannot be retracted.  The price has already been paid–we simply accept the free gift.  Thank God for the gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ, and that he is shaping and molding us into His image.  He did it just for me… and you too.
