“Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof (Prov. 18:21).” Since we know that the power is in what we speak, how then shall we treat words? How should we select them? If we truly believed that, we’d stop saying things like, “girl, you’re killing me with that!” I believe that we’d seriously choose to speak life into our dead situations–or the opposite when we carefully choose. God spoke, when the earth was without form and void, and then there was light, a firmament, dividing waters, grass, herb yielding seed, etc. I understand that this was in the beginning; however, He is the same God–yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13:8)! He watches over (hastens) His Word to perform it (Jer. 1:12). He gives that same power to His people–creative power connected to the words we speak. What future will you create for yourself? I have purposely tried God in this; I encourage you to do the same. If you’re unhappy or dissatisfied with your current situation, speak change and continue to speak it. We can’t speak it once or twice and then return to our old habits. That simply won’t work. We must consistently and purposefully speak life. “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith (Mark 11:23).” He has given us that power. Exercise your faith and use it. “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure (Phil. 2:13).” The power is in you!
