Truth Tellers Wanted!

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not (Matt. 23:37)!”

I wanted to help you… but you wouldn’t allow it.  Oh how we need those who tell us the truth!  Do we actually want to hear it?  No, many times we don’t; but we desperately need to hear it.  Unfortunately, everyone’s super “sensitive” now, at least when it comes to “receiving” correction.   We’ve become experts in straight-out denial and  shifting the blame.  Giving correction?  Oh,   that’s not a problem.  We’ve got that down.

Truthfully, we’ve got to hear somebody.  We wonder why we attract the wrong people, go way too far down the wrong path, are stuck in abusive relationships, or how we end up so far off course.  Honestly… it’s because no one can tell us anything.  If we learn right attitudes and right behaviors as children, we’ll be more apt to have it together as adults.  If we love our children, we’ll address these issues while they are young.  If we don’t lovingly correct them and discipline them, the “law” will do it… just not so lovingly.  The “X” will offer to do it also… but many times that includes a body bag.  Certainly, we all make mistakes; but many mistakes we don’t absolutely have to make… if we learn to listen to those we trust to tell us the truth.  We need truth tellers!  God, give us a hearing ear… ready to receive your correction!

“For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?  But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons (Heb. 12:6-8). ”

  1. Tony Puccio says:

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. ‘So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. ‘Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. ‘Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent. ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
    (Rev 3:14-20)
There isn’t much more that needs to be said here . The name Laodicea cames from 2 Greek Words meaning people’s opinions or people’s judgement. We are definitely a society that rises and falls on people’s opinions. The Church of Laodicea said that basically, they do not need the Lord’s provision they had it all. Laodicea was know for clothing, especially the purple cloth which was worn by royalty and yet Jesus says they were naked. The city was so wealthy that when they had a major earthquake that devastated the city, the refused any outside help and rebuilt the city out of their own riches and yet Jesus says that they are poor and miserable and counseled them to buy gold from Him that had been refined in the fire. Laodicea was world renown at that time for an eye salve and yet Jesus says to them that they were blind and counseled them to buy eye salve from him so that they could indeed see. The river that ran through the city of Laodicea was from a combination of 2 rivers one hot which is good for soaking in and one ice cold which was good and refreshing for quenching one’s thirst. Combine the 2 together and you get lukewarm water which is known for making one puke which is exactly what Jesus says He was about to do with the Laodicean church. This is the last church mentioned in the book of revelation and I believe that it is the church system that is in place today.

  2. We need to have friends around us that are encouraged truth to us. Ignoring all critism and dismissing them as negativity doesn’t do us well at all.
The truth sometimes hurt, but it a can set you free. Great Post

    • Absolutely true! People won’t hear our truth unless they know we first care. So… we need friends that we trust that have our best interest at heart! They must be friends that are able to speak the truth in love in order to be most effective. Thank God for the true Body of Christ! And thank you for your feedback! Blessings!
